Monte Gauro

Monte Gauro

Mount Gauro is a quiescent volcano which is part of the Campi Flegrei. It is located in the municipality of Pozzuoli, behind the city. This is the highest volcanic building of the Phlegraean Fields, on which stands with its three peaks of Mount Barbaro to the south (331 m asl), Mount Sant’Angelo to the north (308 m asl) and Mount Corvara (290 m above sea level). The crater of Campiglione, with a diameter of 750m, constitutes the caldera of the volcano.
