L’ingresso della pista ciclabile si presenta subito ricco di vegetazione e dà immediatamente accesso al giardino borbonico. Qui, l’imponente presenza della macchia mediterranea, ci obbliga a fermarci ed osservare la bellezza del territorio.
Avvicinandoci ai bordi del lago, troviamo il sentiero che ci accompagnerà per l’intera passeggiata attorno allo specchio d’acqua, considerato in antichità la palude infernale del fiume Acheronte.
Tra suggestivi ponti, rovine romane ed una ricca diversità di avifauna (Folaghe, Cormorani, e Garzette), arriveremo all’ingresso del Parco della Quarantena. Qui la fitta lecceta ci accoglierà in un bosco inaspettato e selvaggio, ricco di segreti, dalle antiche strutture del vecchio parco, a suggestive installazioni artistiche.

The entrance to the bike path is immediately rich in vegetation and immediately gives access to the Bourbon Garden. Here, the imposing presence of Mediterranean scrub obliges us to stop and observe the beauty of the area.
Approaching the edge of the lake, we find the path that will accompany us for the entire walk around the body of water, considered in ancient times the infernal swamp of the Acheronte River.
Among evocative bridges, Roman ruins and a rich diversity of avifauna (Coots, Cormorants, and Little Egrets), we will arrive at the entrance to the Quarantine Park. Here the dense ilex forest will welcome us into an unexpected and wild forest, full of secrets, from ancient structures of the old park, to striking art installations.
