Phlegraean Quarto Archeotour with Wine Tasting at Cantine Caputo

Discover the archaeological wonders of Phlegraean Quarto, which in ancient times played a crucial role in connecting the Phlegraean Fields to the Appian Way.
The guided tour will lead you from the Montagna Spaccata (“Split Mountain”) to the Villa del Torchio. The name “Quarto” refers to its distance—four miles—from Puteoli, the ancient city it was urbanistically linked to.

The villa, unearthed in 2006, is one of the best-preserved examples in the Phlegraean Fields. It features a quadrangular layout, preceded by a courtyard with a colonnaded portico. Likely built in the late 2nd century BC, the structure shows various construction phases and later modifications, indicating continuous use up to the 4th–5th century AD.

The discovery of a torcularium (wine press room) and a wine storage room (cella vinaria) suggests that the villa once served as a wine production center.

The tour continues at Cantine Caputo, with a visit to the vineyard and a wine tasting session.

  • Lapilli Campi Flegrei DOC Falanghina Extra Dry

  • Campi Flegrei DOC Falanghina

  • Campi Flegrei DOC Piedirosso
