Baia

Baia

Baia is located in the Campi Flegrei or Ardenti area, since the whole area represents the caldera of the homonymous volcano born about 15000 years ago during the eruption of the Neapolitan yellow tuff (from the name of the ash deposit that was deposited on the adjacent areas) and whose crater is represented by the current Gulf of Pozzuoli. This event, however, occurred inside another much larger crater whose remains make up the current Gulf of Naples, that is the eruption of the Ignimbrite of Campania which occurred about 39,000 years ago.
