Il tour avrà inizio dallo storico Porto di Baia, antica Baiae, uno dei luoghi di villeggiatura più rinomati e alla moda per la classe aristocratica romana. Qui, infatti, sorsero ricche ville di cui abbiamo numerosi e preziosi resti, attualmente custoditi dal Parco archeologico. L’agglomerato si estende fino al porto, su cui sorge l’affascinante tempio di Venere: risalente al II secolo d.C, è in realtà un impianto termale di età adrianea. Il tempio, voluto dallo stesso Imperatore Adriano, era sede di importanti attività legate alla vita politica e sociale, rapporti culturali e commerciali.

Terminata la visita, inizieremo la nostra esperienza a bordo di Iris, la suggestiva imbarcazione con fondo trasparente che ci consentirà di osservare gli antichi resti della città di Baia, sprofondati a causa del fenomeno del bradisismo. La prima tappa sarà il Ninfeo di Punta Epitaffio, ninfeo romano risalente al I secolo d.C., all’epoca dell’imperatore romano Claudio. Proseguiremo verso la villa Sole e Luna, una struttura suggestiva inserita direttamente sulle mura dei bagni termali imperiali romani.

Osserveremo dal mare i gioielli della costa flegrea, come il Castello di Baia: eretto in un’area fortemente strategica come residenza aragonese, attualmente conserva i preziosi reperti esposti nelle sezioni dedicate a Cuma, alla colonia romana di Puteoli, al Rione Terra e all’antica Liternum.

Arriveremo alla peschiera semi-circolare o avremo la possibilità di osservare dal mare le Terme di Baia, complesso imperiale di terme e ville in cui gli antichi romani potevano dedicarsi all’ozio e al relax.

Con un percorso a ritroso, ritorneremo al porto di Baia, luogo finale del tour.

The tour will begin from the historic Port of Baia, ancient Baiae, one of the most renowned and fashionable vacation spots for the Roman aristocratic class. Here, in fact, arose rich villas of which we have numerous valuable remains, currently guarded by the Archaeological Park. The agglomeration extends as far as the harbor, on which stands the fascinating temple of Venus: dating from the 2nd century AD, it is actually a spa facility of the Hadrianic age. The temple, commissioned by Emperor Hadrian himself, was the site of important activities related to political and social life, cultural and commercial relations.

Once the visit is over, we will begin our experience aboard Iris, the charming boat with a transparent bottom that will allow us to observe the ancient remains of the city of Baia, sunk due to the phenomenon of bradyseism. The first stop will be the Nymphaeum of Punta Epitaffio, a Roman nymphaeum dating back to the 1st century AD, at the time of the Roman emperor Claudius. We will continue to Villa Sole e Luna, a striking structure inserted directly on the walls of the Roman imperial thermal baths.

We will observe from the sea the jewels of the Phlegrean coast, such as the Castle of Baia: erected in a highly strategic area as an Aragonese residence, it currently preserves the precious exhibits in the sections dedicated to Cumae, the Roman colony of Puteoli, Rione Terra and ancient Liternum.

We will arrive at the semi-circular fishpond or have the chance to observe from the sea the Baths of Baia, an imperial complex of baths and villas where ancient Romans could indulge in idleness and relaxation.

With a backward route, we will return to the port of Baia, the final site of the tour.
