Cuma
Archaeological Park of Cuma
One of the oldest archaeological sites in the area. Cuma was the oldest colony and city of the Greeks, founded in the West during the 8th century BC. The Hellenic civilization introduced the use of the alphabet and the cult of the god Apollo, officiated by the Sibyl. The priestess was believed to predict the future (oraculum). Cuma endured until the Middle Ages, and in the upper part of the ancient city (acropolis), it is possible to visit the remains of three temples, fortifications, and the mysterious cavity carved into the volcanic rock (tuff), known as the “Sybil’s Cave.”
Open from 9.00 to 19.00. It is possible to visit it with a single ticket for the Phlegraean circuit (€ 8.00 includes 4 sites of the Archaeological Park of the Phlegraean Fields) or single ticket access (€ 4.00).
