Cape Miseno: The Bird Sanctuary
Let the sea breeze guide you along the Bird Sanctuary Trail,
on the promontory that closes the Gulf of Naples.
Here, volcanic nature blends with the echoes of ancient legends, offering one of the most exciting trekking and
birdwatching routes in the Campi Flegrei.
The Legend of Misenus
According to Virgil’s Aeneid, Misenus was Aeneas’ trumpeter.
He challenged the gods with the sound of his trumpet, but was drowned and buried here as punishment, leaving the promontory an
immortal name.
Walking along this path, you will feel the deep bond between land and myth.
An Oasis of Nature and Biodiversity
The Mediterranean scrub vegetation dominates the slopes: broom, myrtle, and lentisk scent the air.
This lush flora creates the ideal habitat for local wildlife.
The Bird Sanctuary
Cape Miseno is a crucial point for migratory routes.
In spring and autumn, you can observe the passage of birds of prey such as the Honey Buzzard and the Common Buzzard.
Always bring binoculars: birdwatching here is a unique experience!
